    The University of Notre Dame invites applications for two full time faculty positions - Program Director for Learning Assessment and Program Director for STEM Pedagogy, each of which include appointment as a teaching professor (assistant or associate). Each program director will function as an educational development generalist, with an area of focus as noted in the title. We seek colleagues with broad expertise in educational development and evidence-based pedagogy and strong commitments to equity in teaching and learning.
    Working as part of the ND Learning team and with faculty colleagues, each program director will:

    • serve as a visible campus advocate for learning and teaching excellence;
    • design and facilitate workshops and programs on a variety of pedagogy topics;
    • consult with instructors and groups on teaching, with primary focus on the listed area of expertise;
    • maintain an active scholarly and professional presence in the field of educational development or Scholarship of Teaching and Learning/Discipline-Based Education Research;
    • typically teach one course per year for Notre Dame undergraduates in an academic department or program.
    These positions are primarily in-person, located within the Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence, a core component of Notre Dame Learning, the University’s central hub for transformational learning initiatives and a key driver of inclusive excellence. Successful candidates will have demonstrated achievements in educational development, professional fluency with broader higher education teaching and learning literature, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a collaborative disposition.

    Successful candidates for Program Director for Learning Assessment will have demonstrated expertise in the area of program- and course-level assessment, practical experience working with faculty members to design and implement effective assessment techniques, and the ability to plan and apply the analytical / interpretive methods necessary to measure effective learning outcomes.

    Successful candidates for Program Director for STEM Pedagogy will have expertise with effective learning and teaching strategies in STEM education, an established record of success as an educational developer working on programs and with instructors in STEM, and a PhD in a relevant academic discipline.
    Required qualifications for an appointment at the rank of assistant teaching professor: at least two years of experience working in educational development, Ph.D. in a relevant discipline in hand at the time of appointment, and evidence of effective teaching at the postsecondary level.

    Required qualifications at the rank of associate teaching professor:  at least four years of full-time experience in educational development, Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, demonstrated success in educational development, evidence of effective teaching at the postsecondary level.
