Bylaws and Elections

The Bylaws and Elections subcommittee has a two fold mission: create and maintain the bylaws of DBER-SiT and conduct the annual election for the leadership positions.

With respect to the bylaws, the subcommittee will:

  • Draft the initial bylaws
  • Get the drafted bylaws approved by the larger DBER-SiT community
  • Make revisions as and when needed

With respect to the elections, the subcommittee will:

  • Draft the initial bylaws
  • Decide the election timeline
  • Call for nominations
  • Prepare the ballot
  • Conduct the elections
  • Confirm and announce the results

Funding

The Funding subcommittee is dedicated to developing resources to support the DBER-SiT community financially.

Toward this end, the subcommittee will:

  • Contribute to the development of the SABER travel scholarship program
  • Compile and regularly update a list of external resources and deadlines for research funding
  • Apply for SABER mini-grants and secure funds for DBER-SiT events
  • Assist the professional development subcommittee in their duties and responsibilities, as needed

Outreach

The Outreach subcommittee works to promote awareness of DBER-SiT and to provide a channel of communication among DBER-SiT members.

Toward this end, the subcommittee will:

  • Maintain and update the website regularly
  • Highlight and promote the activities of other DBER-SiT committees and members-at-large
  • Create and distribute regular newsletters
  • Promote access to resources for DBER-SiT members
  • Maintain a presence on social media (follow us on Twitter @DBER_SiT!)
  • Join other DBER-SiT members on our Discord!

Professional Development

The Professional Development (PD) subcommittee is dedicated to providing DBER Scholars-in-Training (DBER-SiT) with opportunities to hone their professional skills to better prepare for the next steps in their career.

Toward this end, the subcommittee will:

  • Survey DBER-SiT members to determine the types of PD they need
  • Organize annual workshops relevant to what DBER-SiT members need
  • Provide an outlet for member feedback from workshops
