Why should you become a member of SABER?

SABER is the world's largest organization dedicated to scientifically exploring how to teach biology most effectively. 

As a SABER member, you will receive the following: 

  • Access the members-only areas of the SABER website, which includes the ability to:

    • Post on forums

    • View recorded talks

  • Opportunities to receive or provide mentorship in teaching biology and/or conducting biology education research through mentoring groups such as the DBER-SiT committee and PEER Network special interest group, and the SABER Buddies program

  • Ability to serve on committees to advance SABER’s mission

  • Opportunity to join Special Interest Groups (SIGs) 
  • Our quarterly newsletter in your email and access to archived newsletters

  • Right to apply for scholarships and travel grants

Membership Categories and Rates

Membership dues are paid annually at the following rates:

Tenure-track & tenured faculty/staff/administrators: $115

Community college, contingent, & non-tenure-track faculty: $80

Postdocs: $75

Graduate students: $35

Undergraduates: $20

Important note: If SABER membership dues would pose a financial hardship for you, we do have a reduced-fee membership option ($10, see rules and terms) available for one year only. You will see this membership level available when you apply for membership, and you will enter justification for your reduced-fee need in the application.
