    Assistant or Associate Professor of Cellular Biology

    (Cell Biology Education)

    The Department of Cellular Biology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Cell Biology Education, beginning August 1, 2022. The successful candidate will teach an upper-level undergraduate cell biology course and conduct externally-funded research in biology education. The candidate will benefit from interactions with several tenured faculty in the Division of Biological Sciences whose research area is biology education.

    Qualifications:

    All candidates must have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in cell biology, molecular biology, or a related field, and should have at least one year of postdoctoral experience in education research, basic science, or teaching. All candidates should have strong disciplinary content knowledge in cell biology along with expertise in and commitment to cell biology education. Preference will be given to applicants that have at least one semester of teaching experience at the undergraduate level and who have published their biology education research. Candidates at the Associate Professor level must have a national reputation in the field and an externally-funded biology education research program.

Application materials include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a 2-3 page statement of biology education research plans, and a teaching portfolio of up to 10 pages including, but not limited to, (1) evidence of effective instruction, (2) a statement of the candidate’s qualifications to teach upper-level undergraduate cell biology, and (3) a statement of the candidate’s experience with and/or commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The portfolio may also include example teaching materials such as a syllabus or an assessment.
