    Hello SABER colleagues,

A part of an ambitious program of pedagogical reform, the School of BioSciences at The University of Melbourne, Australia is seeking to appoint a tenured full Professor in the discipline of Biology Education. We wish to appoint a globally eminent academic with an outstanding track record in educational research and publication, teaching and leadership, who can make major contributions to educational research and drive cultural change in university biosciences teaching.

The University of Melbourne is committed to increasing the diversity of the workforce and the representation of women in areas where they have been historically under-represented. The School therefore strongly encourages applications from suitably qualified women and underrepresented minorities.

Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is a public-spirited institution with an outstanding reputation for excellence in research, learning and teaching, and engagement. It is ranked as the leading university in Australia.

Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria - and is the second largest city in Australia with a population of more than 4.5 million people and a metropolitan area of 9990.5 km2. The Economist Intelligence Unit has rated Melbourne as the world’s most liveable city for six consecutive years, based on its education, entertainment, health care, research and development, tourism and sport.

The attached brochure provides more information. I will be attending SABER this week and would be delighted to discuss the role in more detail with potential applicants.

    Raoul Mulder
