The Biology Department at Connecticut College seeks applications for a two-year visiting assistant professor position in developmental biology.  The successful candidate will have teaching and/or research experience in developmental biology, molecular biology, and genetics.  Teaching responsibilities will include an upper-level course in molecular developmental biology (with a laboratory component) and an upper-level course in genetics (with a laboratory component).   Candidates should have a Ph.D. by July 1, 2022, the time of appointment.

The Biology Department is committed to innovative teaching practices, equity pedagogy, and active scholarship.  The successful candidate will have access to research laboratory space and some funds for conference attendance or research supplies.  The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in pedagogy programming through our Center for Teaching and Learning.  Funding will also be available for the visiting faculty member to attend the Darling Marine Center Teaching Developmental Biology workshop.  The teaching load for full-time visitors is five courses per year, with lecture and laboratory counting together as two courses.  We value the contributions that visitors bring to our community and encourage their active engagement with their departments and all aspects of campus life during their appointment.  To this effect, visiting faculty may request to be voting members of the faculty at the institutional level in their first year, and their presence is welcome at all Department and College faculty meetings.

Connecticut College is a private, highly selective institution with a demonstrated commitment to outstanding faculty teaching and research.  We recognize that intellectual vitality and diversity are inseparable. The College seeks creative scholars excited about working in a liberal arts setting, with its strong focus on engaged teaching, participation in shared governance, and active involvement in an institution-wide advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion.  AA/EOE
