    Dear Colleagues-

Our research group, the Social Psychology of Research Experiences & Education (SPREE) Lab(https://spree.franklinresearch.uga.edu/) at the University of Georgia (UGA), is seeking a postdoc to collaborate on the IMPACT Study: Improving Mentorship Practice through Attributions and Conflict Training. This NIH-funded study aims to design and test the effectiveness of interventions aimed at improving mentoring relationships between life science graduate students and their research advisors. This postdoc will work at the intersection of research on mentorship, attribution and mindset, interpersonal communication, and graduate life science education with mentorship by Erin Dolan (Biochemistry & Molecular Biology) in close collaboration with Emily Rosenzweig (Educational Psychology) and Justin Lavner (Psychology) at UGA.

Candidates must have: (a) a Ph.D. in a life science (e.g., genetics, neuroscience, ecology) or social science (e.g., education, psychology, communications) discipline, or closely related field; (b) a record of peer-reviewed publication; (c) demonstrated interest in discipline-based education research and/or intervention studies; and (d) demonstrated capacity to manage research projects, including collecting and analyzing data and disseminating results. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with mentoring research and practice, expertise in statistical modeling (structural equation modeling, multi-level modeling), experience designing and/or facilitating teaching or mentoring-related professional development, and/or experience with intervention research.

The postdoc will learn about and gain experience in social science research methods, including intervention studies, and theories of motivation, interpersonal relations, mentorship, and graduate student development. The postdoc will have opportunities to interact with a vibrant group of faculty, other postdocs, graduate and undergraduate researchers, and professional staff as part of the Biology Education Research Group (BERG) and Scientists Engaged in Education Research (SEER) Center at University of Georgia, with an option to gain college-level teaching experience in a discipline of interest.

This position can start as early as January 2023 with the possibility of renewal for up to five years. Salary is $60,000 with associated benefits. Review of applications will begin December 1 and will continue until the position is filled. For other details and to apply, please visit: https://www.ugajobsearch.com/postings/288019
