Hampton University is accepting applications for the Assistant Dean position in the School of Science. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications of the candidate. All disciplines within the Sciences are eligible.
The Assistant Dean will assist the Dean with school processes on all matters of administration, including the following: fundraising, budget preparation and implementation; personnel matters, research program focus, evaluation, and review; curriculum development and review; and student support services within the school and initiatives in a highly collaborative environment involving department chairs, administrative assistants and faculty.
Perform general administrative functions on behalf of the Dean.
May assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the Dean.
Represent science and lead special projects as assigned by the Dean.
Perform other duties as required.
Demonstrated record of research, scholarly, and/or creative achievement to warrant tenure in an academic department in the sciences.
Minimum three years of professional experience as a program director, department chair, or in a university leadership position.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals and groups representing a wide range of academic and administrative interests.
