The Technical Education Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating day to day operations in teaching lab spaces and prep rooms for the Department of Biological Sciences. They are responsible for maintaining and procuring shared teaching lab equipment and supplies, and for coordinating lab safety. They are expected to maintain current working knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and procedures and be able to train and mentor faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students in laboratory operations. This position will manage and update as needed the current department Biology 412 Laboratory Manual, which will be used across the department. This person will teach an occasional lab section within the department as needed. They will work closely with faculty and students to ensure laboratories operate in accordance with all University and other guidelines.
